Introduction to Pickleball Class
Welcome to your Introduction to Pickleball class! In this one-hour session, you’ll dive into one of the fastest-growing sports in America. Whether you’re completely new to pickleball or looking to refine your skills, this class is designed to get you started on the right foot.
What to Expect:
- Warm-up and Basics: We’ll begin with a brief warm-up to get your body ready for action. Then, we’ll cover the fundamental rules of pickleball, including scoring, court dimensions, and equipment basics.
- History of Pickleball: Learn about the origins and development of pickleball, from its invention in the 1960s to becoming a beloved recreational and competitive sport today.
- Grip and Stance: You’ll learn how to hold the paddle correctly and adopt the optimal stance for better control and mobility on the court.
- Basic Strokes: We’ll go through the essential pickleball strokes: the forehand drive, backhand drive, and volley. You’ll practice these strokes to develop consistency and accuracy.
- Introduction to Strategy: Understand the basics of court positioning, shot selection, and teamwork (if playing doubles).
- Gameplay Simulation: To put everything into practice, we’ll have some gameplay simulations. You’ll have the chance to rally and play points, applying what you’ve learned in a friendly environment.
- Scoring: Learn the scoring system of pickleball, including how points are earned and when to switch sides.
- Lines of the Court: Familiarize yourself with the different lines and zones on the pickleball court, including the kitchen (non-volley zone) and boundaries.
What to Bring:
- Comfortable athletic attire and non-marking sneakers
- Water bottle
- Paddle (if you have one; if not, we can provide one)

This class is suitable for individuals who have never played the game and are looking to play for the first time!
